Mission Motorsport Powerboat Experience Day

What exactly is being offered:

Open to serving soldiers and veterans alike, Mission Motorsport have arranged for exclusive use of four P1 Superstock 150 powerboats, offering a taster of the activities planned by Mission Motorsport on behalf of servicemen and veterans in 2012.  They will have on water and on display powerboats, with passenger rides on offer in the Solent as well as the opportunity to chat to some of the 2011 crews.  We will also have some of the Royal Navy Zapcat team boats available.

Gosport is readily accessible from the M3, A27 and A3. It is approximately 1.5 hours from London and 1 hour from Tidworth. From J11 of the M27, follow the A27 south towards Gosport, passing over the first flyover, before bearing left at the roundabout onto the Gosport Road (the A32), which you should stay on all the way into Gosport, following the road as it bends around the shoreline and past the bus station, before taking the left turn signposted JSASTC and Submarine Museum.  On crossing the bridge, cars should be parked in the Joint Services Adventurous Sail Training Centre car park on the right (the guard will be expecting Mission Motorsport attendees). Please come to the clubhouse in the main camp of JSASTC where you will need to sign on.

 

Hospitality that is being offered:

Outdoor event, with activity on the water in the Solent and on the dockside.  Lunch and refreshments are available from the clubhouse, but attendees are advised to bring flasks of hot drinks in case of inclement weather.

 

Requirements of the attendee: 

Attendees will NOT be considered on duty for the purposes of the powerboat experiences and will be required to sign a disclaimer if they wish to go out.  Lifejackets will be provided for attendees and there will be a limited number of sets of waterproof jackets, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own windproof and waterproof clothing.

Is there disabled / Wheelchair access:

Yes.  There is wheelchair access to the pontoons from which all powerboat experiences will be embarked.  Access into the boats will be from a low pontoon, almost level with the cockpit access.  All activities are at ground level on the flat.  There is ample parking.  In case of inclement weather the clubhouse will be used which has easy access and seating.

This is the opportunity to sample Mission Motorsport’s powerboat experiences up and register an interest in race tuition, licencing, racing and civilian powerboat qualifications in 2012.  It will also prove to be a very good day out, and the opportunity to meet those crews who participated in the 2011 superstock season.
