Mission Motorsport Beneficiaries Take to the Grid with Speedworks Motorsport

Over 40 Mission Motorsport beneficiaries have enjoyed the thrill of stepping into the heart of the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) action as official “Grid Persons” for Speedworks Motorsport for their 10 races this season. This incredible opportunity gave them a front-row seat to the excitement of professional motorsport, all while being fully immersed in the team experience.

With four cars competing this season, Speedworks welcomed beneficiaries to the pits, hospitality areas, and most importantly, onto the starting grid itself, providing an unforgettable behind-the-scenes experience.

What the Day Involved

  • Autograph Sessions: Beneficiaries stood alongside their drivers in the pit lane, welcoming fans, signing autographs, and posing for photos.

  • Grid Walks: Before each of the three races, participants took their positions in front of the cars, capturing photos and interacting with fans in a high-energy 30–40 minute window.

  • Full-Day Immersion: From pit lane to podium, beneficiaries experienced a full day in the life of a BTCC team, including access to the team, hospitality, and insights into the cars and technology that make the sport so thrilling.

What the Beneficiaries Said

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with participants highlighting both the adrenaline and the camaraderie:

I had an absolutely cracking day with the team - who looked after me like royalty. The cherry on top? An epic win in the final race by none other than Gordon Shedden! I’ll be buzzing about this day longer than a pit crew on double espresso.” – Martin

As a huge motorsport fan, being part of the team was an amazing experience. I would recommend this to anyone who supports Mission Motorsport — I would happily do it again.” – Rob

“As a racing and touring car fan, it was a real honour to join Speedworks for the day. It gave me a chance to forget about other things and just enjoy the racing. Mission Motorsport is an awesome charity run by a small team that punches well above its weight.” – Ian

I have been lucky enough to be selected to take part in the BTCC alongside Team Speedworks, being treated magnificently with access to the pits, hospitality, and the chance to carry the driver name board for the races. Mission Motorsport helps me step out of my comfort zone and experience things I wouldn’t have done otherwise.” – Mark
