IMI Level 2 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Hazard Management for Emergency & Recovery Personnel (Motorsport)

This qualification is designed for those people who may encounter accident damaged or broken-down electric/hybrid vehicles in a motorsport environment. It contains the knowledge required to work safely around a vehicle that may have or had damage to its high energy/electrical system.

About this Course

This award sized qualification offers an introduction to a specialised industry sector - motorsport. Complimenting students’ current industry qualifications and experience, this course will enable them to continue to work safely with Electric / Hybrid vehicles within their role. These roles can include but are not exclusive to:

  • Rescue Crews

  • Recovery Operators

  • Other motorsport event staff, including event organisers, circuit managers, marshals, etc.

 Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification and students are not expected to have any prior knowledge or experience, however, an interest in the subject area is advisable.

Course Syllabus

Students successfully completing this qualification will acquire significant core knowledge and the ability to work safely around, but not maintain Electric/Hybrid vehicles

Upon successful completion, students will acquire significant core knowledge required to work safely around Electric/Hybrid vehicles that may have or had damage to their high energy/electrical system, during emergency and recovery situations but NOT maintenance. This course looks at:

• The types of Electric/Hybrid vehicles available

• Hazards associated with motor vehicle high energy electrical systems

• Working safely around Electric/Hybrid vehicles including charging

• How to reduce the risk of injury when encountering electric/hybrid vehicles

• How to safely transport and store electric/hybrid vehicles
