James' Cotswold Way Ultra 100Km Challenge

  • James Brown to run The Cotswold Way Challenge Ultra Marathon raising funds for Mission Motorsport.

Long-term supporter James Brown is donning his running gear and trainers and running the Cotswold Way Challenge on the 22nd June in order to raise awareness and funds for Mission Motorsport.

Having successfully completed the Vale of Glamorgan Ultra Marathon last year which saw him run 50km and raise a staggering £760 for the charity, this year James has set himself the gruelling task of running an extra 50km this year by competing in the Cotswold Way Challenge and running 100km, his furthest distance yet.

Running a huge 100km (62 miles) that loops around the idyllic Cotswold Countryside, James will run across a variety of terrains including rolling hills with ascents as high as 2,250m, villages, the Cotswold Way, footpaths and trails and may even get to enjoy views of the Severn Estuary. Starting at 0700hrs in the morning, the race is expected to last anywhere between 9 and 16 hours.

James said about his upcoming race challenge, “This will be the longest distance I have covered in a single run, along rough, wild and undulating terrain. With all the mandatory kit and whatever the British weather wants to throw at us on the day, it is going to be a very tough day with the potential to be quite lonely at times as well.

“However, running 100km is nothing compared to the journey wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women go through every day. For them, it's not a pretty tough and lonely few hours, it's months and years.

Having started his training at the beginning of March, James has been keeping both the charity and his supporters up-to-date with his progress with regular tweets on X (formerly twitter) and on his JustGiving page here. He’s even been selling cakes at his local park run in a bid to reach his fundraising target.

He concluded, “ I'm choosing to put myself through a big challenge and raise £575 . This is for all those who have a much bigger challenge that they didn't choose, and to raise awareness and support the brilliant work that Mission Motorsport do. If you are able please do donate, it would mean the world to me and to the servicemen and women.”
