Race of Remembrance Crowned Motorsport UK’s Event of the Year 2024

Mission Motorsport, the Forces’ Motorsport Charity, is honoured to announce that its flagship event, Race of Remembrance (RoR), has been named Event of the Year by Motorsport UK (MSUK)—a powerful recognition of the event’s unique role in bringing together competition, community, and commemoration.

This new award, introduced by Motorsport UK in 2024, aims to honour race events and competitions that truly reflect the organisation’s shared commitment to community in motorsport—celebrating the passion, unity, and resilience that drive the sport forward. Chosen from over 4,000 MSUK-permitted events held last year, Race of Remembrance was selected for its powerful blend of competition, remembrance, and support for the Armed Forces community.

The award was presented at Motorsport UK’s prestigious Night of Champions, held at the Royal Automobile Club in London— an evening that celebrates the very best of British motorsport and its global achievements. James Cameron, CEO of Mission Motorsport, said:

“To win Motorsport UK’s Event of the Year is simply fantastic—not just for me, but for anyone in the motorsport community who holds the Armed Forces close to their heart. This accolade is a true testament to the dedication and passion of everyone involved. Race of Remembrance is far more than a 12-hour race in Anglesey; it has grown into a multi-venue, multi-activity, and multifaceted event across the UK. It’s how British motorsport comes together to mark Remembrance weekend. We’re incredibly grateful to Motorsport UK for this recognition, and to all the participants, volunteers, and supporters who make it possible.”

At the heart of Race of Remembrance is the moving Remembrance Service held mid-race on Sunday morning. The track falls silent at 11:00am, with drivers, teams, marshals, families, and spectators gathering on the pit lane to pay tribute to those who have served and sacrificed. It is a moment of shared reflection unlike any other in motorsport.

Since its inception in 2014, Race of Remembrance has become a symbol of what the motorsport community can achieve when it comes together to honour service and support recovery. This year’s recognition by Motorsport UK is a celebration not just of an event, but of a movement—powered by people, passion, and purpose. David Richards CBE, Chair of Motorsport UK said: “This award is a celebration of what’s possible when we come together, embodying the true essence of community in motorsport and we are proud to recognise those who lead the way.”
