  • A powerful tribute: Veterans, serving personnel, and supporters united at Thruxton to honour sacrifice and celebrate resilience through motorsport

Karting Race of Remembrance is about more than racing – it’s about honouring sacrifice and celebrating resilience. This year, Mission Motorsport proudly hosted its largest ever Remembrance Karting Event, a day where competition gave way to reflection and unity. Racers, veterans, serving personnel and supporters came together to pay tribute to those who served and sacrificed, while demonstrating the strength of community and recovery through sport.

This year’s event was the largest in its history, with 104 racers competing across 20 teams. Participants travelled from every corner of England, Wales, and Ireland — from Yorkshire to the South West, from the Midlands to the South East — a powerful testament to the depth of commitment to remembrance and recovery.

At the heart of the day were Mission Motorsport beneficiaries: Wounded, Injured and Sick (WIS) serving personnel, veterans, and their families. Alongside them were serving members of the Armed Forces, industry teams, and dedicated supporters. This unique mix of people, strengthened by a tri-service presence and Guardsmen from the Welsh Guards, embodied the spirit of solidarity and hope that defines Mission Motorsport’s mission.

As the racing unfolded, the hum of kart engines fell silent for a deeply moving pit lane service. Drivers, veterans, and supporters stood shoulder to shoulder in a moment of respect, led by Rev (Maj) Graeme McConville CF, Chaplain and military padre. The haunting notes of the Last Post, performed by trumpeter Craig Wild, echoed across the circuit, creating an atmosphere charged with emotion and gratitude.

James Cameron, CEO of Mission Motorsport, said:
“Karting Race of Remembrance is so much more than a race – it’s a moment where our Armed Forces community stands alongside supporters from across the country and all walks of life. It was fantastic to see so many come together in unity and purpose. Remembrance is about acknowledging sacrifice ensuring it is never forgotten, and pausing as one to reflect on the cost of service and the strength of those rebuilding their lives makes this event truly special.”

While the day was defined by remembrance and unity, the racing was fiercely contested. Congratulations to Army Karting Team, who claimed overall victory at the Karting Race of Remembrance with an outstanding performance across the heats and final. Second place went to Poppy Pistons, with Carwood securing third.

Mission Motorsport extends its heartfelt thanks to Team Forces, Carwood, Stellantis, BARC, and the Thruxton Kart Centre whose support was vital in making this record-breaking event possible. Their commitment goes beyond sponsorship – it represents a shared belief in remembrance and recovery.

Karting Race of Remembrance isn’t just about laps and leaderboards – it’s about creating a space where recovery and resilience take the front seat. Every turn on the track reflects the strength of those rebuilding their lives and the unity of a community committed to remembrance.
