Celebrating Community, Motorsport and Legacy at Meyrick Cox Day 2026
Meyrick Cox Day returned to Goodwood for its fifth year, bringing together veterans, serving personnel, families, supporters and friends for a memorable day of motorsport, camaraderie and remembrance with Mission Motorsport.
Kindly supported by Thakeham, the event celebrates the life and legacy of our late Chair of the Board of Trustees, Meyrick Cox, whose passion for Mission Motorsport continues to inspire everything this special day represents.
One of the day's highlights was the track experience, where drivers not only helped raise vital funds for the charity but also gave members of the Mission Motorsport community the chance to enjoy unforgettable passenger rides around the circuit. Some of the impressive vehicles on offer on the day included a McLaren Senna, Porsche 911 GT3 RS and a Radical SR8.
Away from the track, there was no shortage of activities. Visitors took on the skidpan, experienced the new Goodwood Simulator Suite, raced remote-controlled cars, toured the Spitfire Academy hangar and, of course, enjoyed plenty of smiles behind the wheel of our newly liveried split-control car, Lightning McQueen. Its unique dual-control setup, with the steering wheel on the right and pedals on the left, continues to demonstrate how adaptive technology can make motorsport accessible to more people.
One attendee summed up the day perfectly; "Myself and two friends attended Meyrick Cox Day (two serving Royal Navy personnel and one veteran). We had a day far beyond our expectations – what an incredible opportunity. I cannot speak highly enough of this event and had so much fun. The highlights for me were the skidpan, a lap in the V8 Radical, and many laps in a fantastic variety of cars. My personal favourite was the Impreza."
The event also provided an opportunity for attendees to connect with organisations offering support beyond the day itself. Representatives from the South East England Valour Hub, Veterans' Outreach Support, Blesma, Help for Heroes and the Royal Hospital Chelsea were on hand to provide advice, guidance and information about the services available to the Armed Forces community.
Reflecting on the event, our Managing Director, Alex Atherton, said, "Meyrick Cox Day 2026 at Goodwood was a tremendous success, and that would not have been possible without the generosity, professionalism and commitment of everyone involved. From our valued sponsor, Thakeham, to our volunteers, drivers, guests and supporters, together we created a truly memorable day for our community.
”Goodwood, as always, provided an incredible setting, and we're hugely grateful to the whole team for helping us deliver such a special event.
“Meyrick Cox Day is about more than motorsport. It's an opportunity to remember Meyrick, celebrate the legacy he left behind and spend time with the people who meant so much to him. We were honoured to welcome his family and close friends to share the day with us.
“I'd also like to thank the Mission Motorsport team. Every day I see the hard work, passion and dedication that goes into making an event like this happen, and I'm incredibly proud of everything the team has achieved."
A heartfelt thank you goes to Thakeham for their continued support, to Goodwood for once again providing such an outstanding venue, and to every volunteer, driver, partner and supporter who helped make the day such a success.
Most of all, thank you to the veterans, serving personnel and families who joined us. Seeing people laugh together, reconnect, challenge themselves and create lasting memories is exactly why Meyrick believed so passionately in Mission Motorsport's work. His legacy continues to make a difference every single day, and Meyrick Cox Day remains a fitting celebration of the community he cared so deeply about.
