Wera Tools announced as new sponsor for Race of Remembrance
Leading global tool manufacturer Wera Tools partners with Mission Motorsport
The Forces’ Charity welcomes Wera Tools as key supporter of Race of Remembrance
Planning continues apace for the 2025 RoR in November at Anglesey in North Wales
Wera Tools, one of the world’s premier manufacturers and top innovators within the tool industry, has today been confirmed as a key sponsor for the 2025 Race of Remembrance (RoR), which will take place at Anglesey Circuit in North Wales over the weekend 8th/9th November.
Joining forces with Mission Motorsport for the charity’s annual blue riband motor race, which sets out each year to deliver camaraderie, community spirit and competition for the ex-servicemen and ex-servicewomen who take part, Wera Tools is delighted to partner with RoR for the first time.
Named the Motorsport UK Event of the Year in 2024, Race of Remembrance returns for its 11th staging this November where more than 50 teams are expected to take on the unique challenge of the 12-hour endurance race.
Contested by teams fielding a variety of road car-based racers, with road-legal tyres and a maximum engine capacity of 2.0-litres, the event is run in conjunction with the British Racing and Sports Car Club (BRSCC).
Wera Tools, of course, has a very prominent and well-established presence within UK motorsport already with support provided to a range of championships, from the Wera Tools British Karting Championships up to and including the F4 British Championship certified by the FIA.
In addition, the company partners with leading British Touring Car team Alliance Racing to run the Wera Alliance Racing Academy which focuses on providing key support to sixteen up-and-coming young race and rally drivers across eleven championships. Wera Tools presently backs drivers in F4, Porsche Carrera Cup GB, Porsche Sprint Challenge GB, MINI Challenge, British Rally Championship, Radical Cup UK and Karting.
Of importance to Wera Tools is the support of young people training towards technical careers in motorsport; teams, organisations and competitors. They are proud to be partnering with Loughborough College, particularly the Motorsport division helping learners gain their training and linking them to the potential employers in sport. Building, prepping and running two BTRDA Rallycross cars, they are already back-to-back championship winners and are the current leaders in 2025.
Founded in 1936 in Germany, Wera Tools is headquartered in Cronenberg, Wuppertal, while its UK arm, based at Clay Cross in Derbyshire, is headed by Managing Director Ian Walford. Motorsport is an absolute cornerstone of Wera Tools’ marketing and its new partnership with Mission Motorsport marks the beginning of an incredibly exciting and forward-thinking relationship between the two.
Entries for this year’s RoR are already open and on Friday, 3rd October, Mission Motorsport will host its flagship launch event at Thruxton in Hampshire. Last year 150 members of the Armed Forces community came together for the Launch Day, a multi-activity event with high-speed passenger laps around the fastest track in the UK, car control sessions on the skidpan, auto-tests and 4x4 driving.
At the heart of everything, of course, is the purpose behind the Race of Remembrance – bringing together sick, injured and wounded leavers from the Armed Forces and offering the opportunity to participate in another team environment under the motto ‘Race, Retrain, Recover’.
Mission Motorsport, the Forces’ Motorsport Charity, exists to help servicemen and servicewomen, veterans and their families, who have been impacted and affected by military operations undertaken in the service of King, Queen and country within the Army, Navy and Royal Air Force.
While the Race of Remembrance is the highlight of the calendar for Mission Motorsport, key activities are ongoing throughout the year to assist those veterans and service leavers as they adapt to non-military life.
James Cameron, CEO, Mission Motorsport
“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Wera Tools as a key sponsor for this year’s Race of Remembrance. Wera Tools is a fantastic company with industry leading products, which are used by Mission Motorsport’s workshop and the charity’s Training Wing. The brand has actually been a staunch supporter of our work for the best part of a decade, so we’re thrilled to now extend and enhance our relationship. Race of Remembrance is an incredibly special weekend and we’re looking forward to Wera Tools bringing their innovation and energy to this year’s 12-hour race at Anglesey, one of the staples of the British motor racing calendar.”
Ian Walford, Managing Director, Wera Tools UK
“We whole heartedly believe in the efforts of Mission Motorsport and the fantastic work they do to support those who have committed their lives for the protection of our country, values and lifestyles, helping them attain ongoing careers in non-military lives. The people within the organisation, headed by James Cameron, are some of the most devoted and dynamic, free-thinking people I have had the pleasure to work with. Wera Tools are so proud and excited to step up further to support this group and its efforts and for us to encourage other organisations to engage with them as well. Many values we encompass within our company are aligned with Mission Motorsport, so a developing collaboration is an easy pathway for us to follow together.”
