Stellantis UK has signed the Armed Forces Covenant committing to support those and their families who have served the nation. In line with this commitment, the Group is already working with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) to provide access to nationwide job vacancies, and providing training opportunities for service leavers, veterans and their families enabling them to forge rewarding new career paths in the automotive industry.

The commitment is made in support of the ‘Mission Automotive’ initiative - launched in 2019 by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders in partnership with the Ministry of Defence and the Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.  Working with service charity Mission Motorsport, Stellantis UK will work closely with a dedicated Armed Forces Engagement Manager, Pa Njie, himself a former solider, double amputee and Invictus Games medallist.

Njie said: “It is an honour to support my fellow Veterans, Service Leavers and their families to start a new journey in the automotive industry. The training courses and job opportunities offered by Stellantis are vital for former military personnel going forward with their lives in the civilian world and I’m grateful to be part of such a project.”

The training courses will be delivered across a variety of channels, with both online and in-person teaching available, and course attendees will also gain access to Stellantis’ e-Learning platform. Serving and former members of the Armed Forces, as well as their family members, have the opportunity to receive training across a variety of sectors, including;

·       Technician – Service  & Maintenance, Diagnostics & Master / Consultant Level

·       Aftersales Service & Customer Advisor

·       Operational Management for both Sales and Aftersales

·       Sales Executive for both Retail and Business

In addition to supporting veterans and service leavers as they transition into civilian life, Stellantis is committed to recognising and assisting employees who have an active role in the Armed Forces, such as Reservists or Cadet Adult Force Volunteers, and/or who are military spouses and partners, through supportive company policies and procedures, as well as raising awareness of the importance of their roles across the workforce.

David Connell, Group HR Director, Stellantis UK, said: “At Stellantis, we recognise that it is our people that make the difference. Our strength lies in the diverse backgrounds, interests and experiences of our colleagues and it is with this in mind that we recognise the value of the unique skills, experiences, and training of the Armed Forces and how this can strengthen our teams and wider business.”

Major General Simon Brooks-Ward CVO OBE TD VR – Assistant Chief of the Defence Staff, said: “The Covenant is a real and much treasured commitment between Defence, those who have served, those who are serving and their families. It celebrates military service and thus far over six and a half thousand organisations across the land have signed. Having signed the Covenant, I am sure Stellantis will actively support the employment of reservists, service leavers, cadet force sign up volunteers and their families. It demonstrates just how dedicated your group are to the Armed Forces, their ethos, culture and values.”

James Cameron, CEO and Founder of Mission Motorsport, The Forces Motorsport charity which delivers Mission Automotive said: “Stellantis signing the Armed Forces Covenant and pledging their commitment to the provision of free training for those who are and have served their country as well as their families is incredible. As an underutilised and highly skilled national resource, these free courses will enable people to bridge the gap between military and civilian qualifications, and aid in a new career within the automotive industry.”
