Best of British Veterans @ Heritage
On Wednesday 6th August, Mission Motorsport proudly hosted its Best of British themed Veterans @ Heritage event, welcoming members of the Armed Forces Community to the historic setting of Hangar 113 at Bicester Motion. The day blended the charm of classic British motoring with the warmth of a family gathering, creating an atmosphere filled with laughter, camaraderie, and shared memories.
Hangar 113, along with its surrounding grassed areas, airfield, and test track, became the backdrop for an unforgettable showcase. Visitors admired a stunning line-up of vehicles courtesy of the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club, the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust, and the Lotus Owners Club who also generously provided all the passenger rides for the day on the Bicester Motion test circuit. Among the highlights was Prodrive’s impressive Heritage Metro 6R4 and a Bentley displayed by Headley Studios, while volunteer Colin Vernon delighted guests with his fleet of RC cars.
The presence of Lightning McQueen the Mission motorsport split control MX5 and a dual-control MX5 proved a big hit as children of all ages got the chance to get behind the wheel.
The Historic Army Aircraft Flight brought a special touch of aviation heritage, offering a special flight in a Beaver aircraft for a raffle winner and a couple of beneficiaries, an experience that will long be remembered. Meanwhile, The Poppy Factory set up an engaging stand, adding their support to the event.
No British gathering would be complete without tea, cakes, and freshly baked scones, which were enjoyed throughout the day. Garden games on the lawn kept the atmosphere playful, while rides in iconic cars gave guests the chance to soak up both history and horsepower.
Thanks to the dedication of our team of volunteers and the generous contributions of our partners, the event was not just a celebration of British heritage, but also a true family day – filled with connection, joy, and community spirit.
