Virtual Race of Remembrance returns bigger and better than ever before

The Virtual Race of Remembrance (VRoR) returned in 2025 to a warm welcome, run by serving soldier and long-time supporter of the charity, David Allen, alongside his friends, bringing together drivers from around the world in support of Mission Motorsport.

A global success, this year’s Virtual Race of Remembrance welcomed drivers from 18 countries, including participants from both Russia and Ukraine, all united by sport and shared purpose to compete in a 4-hour endurance race at the Paul Ricard circuit.

A staggering 64 drivers competed across 44 teams (33 GT3 / 11 GT4), completing a remarkable 4,476 laps and covering a total distance of 26,148.79 km. The most laps driven by an individual competitor was 123, while the fastest laps were clocked at 01:54.362 in the GT3 class and 02:04.300 in the GT4 class.

Thanks to David and his team, the online event raised an impressive £1,207 for Mission Motorsport and generated strong online engagement, with live streaming on YouTube and Twitch, becoming one of the RAF’s most-watched esports broadcasts to date. The spirit of respect, remembrance, and community was evident throughout the entire event.

Sim racing is a form of virtual motorsport that recreates the skill, precision, and excitement of real-world racing. Using realistic software and hardware such as steering wheels and pedals, drivers compete on digital versions of famous circuits, learning racecraft and car control in a highly accessible way. It opens the door to motorsport for anyone, anywhere, and brings people together through shared competition, teamwork, and a passion for racing, making it one of the most inclusive and engaging forms of motorsport today.

Mission Motorsport would like to say a huge thank you to David Allen, currently serving with the Army Air Corps, whose dedication and leadership ensured the event ran to the highest standard. David and the class winners later joined us at the Race of Remembrance in Anglesey. We are also deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to making the Virtual Race of Remembrance such a success.

Positive Perception generously provided both the servers and stewarding support, while the Royal Navy donated the moving Remembrance video that set the tone for the event. More than £1,000 worth of prizes were donated to celebrate the outstanding performances across the grid. Thanks to this remarkable collective generosity, almost every element of the event was delivered at minimal cost, ensuring that even more impact could go directly towards supporting the charity.

With David and his team already committed to Virtual Race of Remembrance 2026, keep an eye on our socials and Newsletter on how to get involved.
